Top 5 Things To Do While Visiting Flagstaff Arizona in the Summer

Flagstaff may be known as a skiing destination, but it’s truly a fabulous place to visit in summer. The temps are perfect with highs in the mid 70s. Here is my list of the best things to do during your visit, all kid friendly:

1. Visit the Snowbowl Ski Resort

Take the scenic drive up into the ski resort right in Flagstaff. Once you arrive, take a gondola ride up to the top of the mountains, elevation 11,500 feet. The views are unbeatable. Once you get to the top, you can take a small hike while feeling like you’re on top of the world. There is a restaurant, bar, and other activities for the kids during the summer months as well.

2. Drive to the Grand Canyon

Less than 1.5 hours north of Flagstaff lies the Grand Canyon South Rim. This rim has the most magnificent views to be found at Grand Canyon. We felt like a day excursion was enough time for us to have a great visit.

3. Take a Day Trip to Sedona

Take in all the fantastic scenery on your drive from Flagstaff to Sedona, which takes just under an hour. Once you arrive, visit the shops and restaurants in the adorable downtown area. Visit Slide Rock State Park, or Crescent Moon Park (pictured below) for a swim. Outdoor activities and views are endless.

4. Walk Historic Downtown Flagstaff

Downtown Flagstaff is a quaint little town and full of fun shops and restaurants. Have lunch and then hit the shops and enjoy viewing the old architecture. Be sure to stop at the Sweet Shoppe for gelato or chocolate treat!

5. Enjoy a Hike at Buffalo Park

Buffalo Park is a park located in Flagstaff, and is well maintained and beautiful spot with various trails to suit your level. We opted for an easy hike on the main trail which took about an hour, and it is perfect for any level from kids to seniors. We took our time to soak in the mountain and forest views.
