Everything You Need to Know Before Your Visit to Waco Surf

If you’re like me, you like to be prepared for an outing, but honestly I found the website for Waco Surf to be very confusing. Do not fear, my blog is here! Get all ready to float the longest lazy river in the WORLD:

1. No Need To Bring a Tube

They have an abundance of tubes for your use on the lazy river. However if you plan to spend most of your time floating on the lazy river, you can rent a cooler tube to bring along for the ride.

2. Pack a Picnic

They do offer food for purchase at the “Wedge Grill”, but not much to choose from. They have burgers, snacks, and soda but it’s pretty limited. We opted to bring our own cooler with a lunch and snacks but forgot sodas. We paid nearly $20 just for 5 sodas. Don’t make this mistake, bring your own. There is no charge for bringing in your own cooler, but no glass is allowed.

3. BYOB

As long as you plan to stay in the main area with the slides and lazy river, you can bring your own alcohol! They do not sell it in this area. You have to upgrade to the “activity pass” for an extra fee to gain entrance to the bar area pictured here:

4. The Slides are Intense!

The slides are unique in that they fling you up into the air right at the end. However, this can make for a tough (aka painful) landing. The key is to get your feet under you before hitting the water so that you don’t body flop in and end up with red marks all over. My kids are all 8-10 years old and they did get the hang of it after a few tries. However, the slides are not designed for kids younger than 8 in my opinion .

5. Surfing & Wakeboarding Cost Extra

The park is broken up into 3 separate areas:

  • The general activity area with the slides, huge swimming pool with sandy beach, snack bar, cabanas, and lazy river.
  • The wakeboarding area with a zip line and jumping ramps.
  • The Surfing wave pool with a private beach area, bar and picnic tables.

We chose to just do the general admission area which is perfect for those of us with younger kids, but adventurous folks and teens will love the option to upgrade to the other activities.

5. Stay for an Extended Visit

Waco Surf has its very own hotel on site which is perfect if you want to spend more than one day at the park, especially since it’s kinda in the middle of nowhere.

6. You “Might” Be Able to Buy Snowcones

There is a cute little trailer on site that sells Snowcones, however, it is independently operated and was not open during our visit, so don’t plan on it.

7. Rent a Cabana

The cabanas are available to rent for an extra fee and hold up to 8 people. They are located by the main swimming area. There are plenty of trees to shade you at the park but these are perfect for a special occasion.

8. Life Jackets are Provided

Life jackets are required for all ages to go down the slides, and they do provide them in various sizes from littles to adults, so no need to bring your own.

9. Did I Mention That The Lazy River is LONG?

It takes about 45 minutes for each loop around the lazy river, so make sure you have your drink ready to go (don’t worry, the tubes have cupholders!!)
