Turner Falls is a great place to visit for a quick family friendly gateway, and it’s easy on the budget as well. Here are my top recommendations for things to do, other than visit the famous waterfall in Turner Falls Park of course!
1. Go Hiking
There are beautiful hiking trails inside Turner Falls Park. Take a couple hours to explore all the trails and beautiful scenery.
2. Visit a Castle
Inside Turner Falls Park, you will find an abandoned castle from the 1940s. It has an interesting history and the kids will enjoy exploring this mysterious spot.
3. Do a Wine Tasting
Not far from Turner Falls in downtown Davis, you will find a cute little place called The Rusty Nail Winery. They offer wine tastings at a very reasonable rate, and their fruity wines are quite tasty!
4. Visit Arbuckle Wild Life Park
This is a drive through park where you can feed the animals right from your car windows! They have camels, zebras, donkeys, buffalo, and ostriches to name a few. My kids loved it and we all had a great time. We all laughed so hard when the animals got a little demanding for food, and when they slobbered all over our hands. Bring some sanitizing wipes!! There is also a play area for kids and a nice gift shop.
5. Go Swimming
In the summer, you can swim directly under the falls, or in the streams you can find along the hiking paths in Turner Falls Park. However, I really enjoy going when the weather is cooler in order to enjoy the other outdoor activities. We always stay at a hotel nearby with an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, so you can enjoy swimming during any season.
6. Visit Historic Downtown Davis
Davis is a quaint little town nearby Turner Falls. You can find restaurants and a few shops to pop in for some shopping.
7. Go Cave Hunting
The Arbuckle Mountains have many caves and you can find three of them right in Turner Falls Park. They aren’t always easy to get to but it’s great fun to try!
