I have been vacationing in this area for over 20 years, and it’s my kids favorite annual summer trip. Here is a list of my family’s favorite low cost activities that we do every time we go:
1. North Padre Island National Seashore- $10 per vehicle
This area has such beautiful beaches and wildlife, and the crowds are usually low. You aren’t able to drive on the beaches here, but they do have a very nice covered picnic area and restrooms.
2. Go Out For Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt- approx $5 a person
You can find several spots for ice cream or frozen yogurt on both Port A and North Padre Island. It’s the perfect way to cool off with a special treat.
3. Go Roberts Point Park- Free
This lovely park is located on the east end of Port A, right by the ferry. It has a great playground area, but what I really like is the ship channel. You can sit on the side of the water and watch for dolphins and sea turtles among other sea life.
5. Ride The Ferry- .25 Cents
The ferry between Aransas Pass and Port A runs all day and it’s pretty fun just to ride it to one side and then back. I have always seen dolphins in the water from the ferry. Sometimes there is a line, so just watch for short wait times at the entrance to the ferry car line.
6. Go To The Pizza Buffet- approx $7 per child and $14 per adult
We usually try to eat at our Airbnb to save money, but we always go out to eat at the pizza buffet while we are in town. The kids love it and they have a little arcade area inside the restaurant, so bring some cash.
7. Go To Mustang Island State Park- $5 per adult, children 12 and under are free.
We love the untouched beauty of the dunes and plant life at this beach, and that they have picnic tables right on the beach for your use.
8. Go See A Matinee Movie- approx $10 a person
We always need a day off from all the sun during our beach trips, so we plan a day to stay inside about halfway through the trip. We play board games and go see a family movie at the Century 16 Theater that is just a ways over the bridge in Corpus Christi.
9. Go For A Morning Walk On The Beach – Free

We love to stop on at the tourist shops to buy a cheap souvenir or two. Plus this is best place to get your photo inside a shark mouth!
