Your Guide to Visiting North Padre Island National Seashore

If you are visiting Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, or the North Padre area, be sure to plan to spend a day at North Padre Island National Seashore.

The beaches here are so beautiful, and great for those of you that prefer to avoid the crowded party scene at most of the other beaches in the area.

On the drive in, you will enjoy seeing miles of the untouched beauty of the protected sand dunes.

I recommend parking at the visitor center parking lot so you can utilize the facilities there.

The visitor center is great because there are actually nice bathrooms and a big shaded area with picnic tables. I recommend you bring a lunch (no food is available for sale). It’s also nice to get out of the wind and sand to eat your meal.

Cost to enter for one day is $10 per vehicle. However, if you have a 4th grader or are a senior with a national park pass, you can get your entire vehicle in free!

There are showers on your way up the ramp to rinse off all the sand on your way out!

I recommend you bring a backpack cooler for your food and drinks, these are my favorite type of cooler for the beach. Coolers or wagons with wheels are such a struggle to pull in the sand. Here is one I recommend:

Be sure to pop in the visitor center on your way in or out, there are some cute items you can buy. Here are some similar items you can find online for less in case you are on a budget:
